# 14 Take-Home Slime Project

Take-Home Slime Project

Star Wars Galaxy Slime

Classmates Projects:
Peanut Butter Play dough

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 – 1/2 cup honey (just enough to make it stick together)
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Mix all ingredients in a medium bowl with an electric mixer. It’s as easy as that!
Rainbow Glitter Salt Dough

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups plain flour (all purpose)
  • 2 cups salt
  • 1 cup warm water (add a little more if too dry but start with this amount)
  • Glitter in different colours
  • Gel food coloring in rainbow shades.

Instructions:
Mix the dry ingredients together in a large bowl, then stir in the warm water slowly. The mixture should be a little sticky, but as you continue to mix it thoroughly it will become like a regular dough. At this stage turn it out not a counter top and begin to knead it for a couple of minutes until it is soft, smooth and not at all sticky. As with all these recipes it’s possible to add too much or too little water, so just balance the other ingredients to adjust it

Then separate the dough into 7 balls of equal size and push a dent into each one. Into the dents add a small amount of each of the gel colors, then fold the doughs over and over until the colors are mixed in (try to avoid touching the gel directly as it does stain for a few hours.)

Spider-Man Foam Dough

Ingredients:
  • finger paints- to color
  • raspberry shaving cream- 1 can
  • cornstarch in the USA/ cornflour in other countries- 1 box

Instructions:

Take 2 bowls and pour half the box of cornstarch in each bowl.  Start with one bowl and add red finger paint.  A few plastic spoon scoops. Then start spraying in the shaving cream.  Mix with your hands. Keep adding shaving cream and mixing until it is moldable but not sticky.  Repeat this process for the blue foam dough.

Lotion Body Paint

Ingredients:
  • 2 TSP corn starch
  • 1 tsp body lotion/cream
  • 1 tsp water.
  • Food color
Instructions:

Mix all the ingredients except the food color and put them in separate containers. Add more water if need be and make sure to mix until a creamy mixture forms without any lumps. Then add the desired food color. Note:  If you DON’T want any amount of staining  whatsoever please use store brand liquid food color. Then there will be no staining. Just to be sure, test a small portion of the skin before proceeding to paint.

Use lotions of different fragrances for that added sensory input

#13 Grossology

Grossology:

My partner and I picked Boogers as the topic for our Grossology project. We thought this would be a great topic to discuss with children. Since when they are little they are always dripping out of their noses, wiping them on their sleeves or the favorite picking their noses. Our activity was to show a slide show that we had created that was simple enough to get facts about boogers to the children. Afterward we were going to show a video that sings about boogers and how you should always sneeze or cough into your elbow; and that after each time you need to wash your hands to keep away the germs.

#12 Nature Connections for February

February Nature Connections

Outside or inside, winter weather brings lots to do.

February is a good month for skiing!

I went skiing at the Camden Snow Bowl over the weekend. It was around 25 degrees out although weather bug said that it felt more like 5 degrees. When I got to the mountain it was snowing big fat snowflakes. There was no sun shinning so I had to wear my clear goggles so I would be able to see.

The mountain was beautiful, you could see through the trees all the way to the top of the mountain and if you looked behind you while you were on the chair lift you can see the water.  Skiing is a great fun and active activity for students to do. In the midcoast area the Snow Bowl will partner up with the local schools and give the students free lessons on how to ski and snowboard. All the school has to do is bring the students over on the bus and the Snow Bowl does the rest. Its a great opportunity for some students who wouldn't have been able to afford lessons on their own outside of the school setting.

Animal tracks:

I live in the woods so you can always spot all kinds of animal tracks, at my mothers house across the front yard I found tracks for crows, bunnies and a family of deer tracks. There was also cat tracks near the porch where we took my indoor cat outside and put her paws in the fresh snow to see how she would react.

Looking at Trees:

One thing I love to do it take pictures of trees, all in different seasons. Here you can see a lot of trees in the winter because that is the current season. But you can also see a local apple tree, a maple tree, and the Christmas tree that my Dad and I picked out for this past Christmas.

This is a great activity for students to do throughout the year. They can all pick a tree and photograph it through out the different seasons and they can see how the tree changes.
