In class we got to look at a number of turkey feathers, this is the first time I have been able to look at these feathers up close and to touch them. The feather I had picked to do a rubbing on was one foot long. I did find it a bit challenging to try and do a feather rubbing on the paper.
Colors:
Tan, Brown, Dark Brown, White, Gray and Black
Fun Fact:
Did you know turkeys could fly? It's quite a sight to see in person. I once saw one sitting on a telephone wire.

Seeds and Plants
In class Professor Clawson had us each take a few Lima beans and record data on them. We could color a few and then write numbers on each so we could track their progress the next class time on Monday. We were given a small plastic cup and told to put our seeds inside and fill the cup with water. After we had to place them on the shelf.
Data:
Orange Lima Bean:
1/2 inch long
Lima Bean #1:
3/4 inches long and has a crack on the top of it on its outer coat
Lima Bean #2:
1/2 inches long and the protective covering is coming off of the Lima bean seed
Lima Bean #3:
3/4 inches long
The colors of the Lima bean seeds before they were colored were:
Beige, green, white and light brown
More Seeds:
One of the other class activities we did was trying to sort out different seeds and beans from this huge bag that Professor Clawson had brought in. I found this activity rather relaxing, all I had to do was take a handful of the seeds and beans out of the bag and sort them into groups based on what they looked like. I was able to guess a few of them like:
- Poppy Seeds
- Lima Beans
- Chick Peas
- Split Green Peas
- Corn
- Brown Beans
- Sunflower seeds

Activities:
In one of the groups we got to be with Professor Clawson as she showed us a few activities or items we could use with children. One that I really liked was a Styrofoam box that had a clear plastic side. You put dirt in and plant seeds close to the glass and you can watch the seeds transform into plants and you can watch the root systems and how they grow.
Here is another example but with the system all put together
