Snowflake Study
Catch a few flakes on your mitten or sleeve and draw them here...
This is a great activity to bring into the classroom. You can bring out many different tools that the students can use to look at the snow flakes up closely. You can bring black paper outside when it starts to snow and give the students magnifying glasses.
This video is a cute song to plat for younger students

Picture of the Month:
Picture of the month can be a single picture or many that you have taken during the month of January that include nature.
These were taken at my home after a recent snowstorm in January
Recent snowfall on the job site
These show different versions of snow and ice that can form in different cold weather conditions
I think that this activity would be great for any aged students, they can go outside the school and take pictures or if they have access to a camera or cell phone at home they can take pictures and send them into school. The teacher could have everyone explain what is in the pictures, what drew them to take a photo of that object, and for the younger grades it can be turned into a class book.
