#16 Potions

Potions
(Bring on the Harry Potter references)

As we all know that potions can be a difficult class to take, with Snape brooding over how much Harry is so much like his father that 10 point from Gryffindor Making potions can be a fun activity to do with your students.

I of course when told of the task we had to do in class instantly thought of Harry Potter and what potion I could try and re-create. I noticed on our table there was a bottle of red food coloring and I knew what potion I was going to try and re-create.

Amortentia
(The Love Potion)

  • First I started out with one tablet of anti acid relief, because you know love hits you right in the heart.
  • I put the crushed up tablet in the bottom of my potion vile, next I poured in some water, this caused an instant reaction of bubbles that started to rise up in the potion vile. This is the butterfly feeling you get in your stomach when you see that special person.
  • I decided to pour in a little vinegar, this is because although a love potion it doesn't create true love, but infatuation.
  • Next I added three drops of red food coloring and some more water to mix in the coloring drops. The red symbolizes your heard and the blood that runs throughout you.

These pictures are from me making Amortentia in class

This is a bottle of Amortentia that I bought at Weasleys Wizard Wheezes in Diagon Alley last March

Love potions are brews, which cause the drinker to become infatuated or obsessed with the person who gave it to them. Love potions are considered to be powerful and highly dangerous. Amortentia is the most powerful love potion in existence.
Love potions are banned items at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, though students still smuggled them into the school through various means.

When brewing with your little witches and wizards remind them that saftey is first. Wear robes (coats) and safety goggles (wands) to protect yourself and aid in your potion creations. Because you don't want to end up like Seamus Finnigan.

How to make your own..
  • Ashwinder Eggs. First drop one ashwinder egg into your cauldron
  • Rose Thorns. Next add in a handful of rose thorns
  • Refined Peppermint Oil. These ingredient is easy to get, it can be found in any muggle store
  • Add one Moonstone
  • Stir Your Mixture
  •  You will see Spirals Of Steam coming out of your cauldron
  • Next add Mother Of Pearl
  • Give The Potion To Your Crush but remember it doesn't create true and real love. Only a powerful infatuation or obsession from the drinker. Like Ron eating entire box of chocolates that were meant for Harry Potter, who both did not know they were doused in a love potion
